Beneficiaries of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) grants and loans in Nsama District have been urged to treat the funds with integrity and accountability, during a capacity building meeting held today at the Nsama Town Council.
The meeting, which aimed to enhance understanding and responsible management of the CDF resources, was attended by key district officials including Council Secretary Mr. Raphael Kamanga, District Commissioner Mr. Steward Katele, and District Administrative Officer Mrs. Getrude Nkonde.
In his address, Mr. Kamanga cautioned against the deliberate defaulting on CDF loans, stressing that such behaviour amounts to stealing from the government. “This is a revolving fund,” he said. “The government is doing its part to bridge the economic gap and uplift people’s lives. If the funds are not returned, others will be denied the same opportunity.”
Mr. Kamanga emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in handling the loans, that the fund is not a free handout but a means to empower citizens through responsible entrepreneurship.
Echoing this sentiment, District Commissioner Mr. Katele urged recipients to make good use of the loans and ensure timely repayment. “There are many others who also need this support to better their lives,” he said. “If some misuse or fail to repay, it hinders the broader developmental goals the government has set for our communities.”
He further added that proper utilization of the grants and loans could significantly boost agricultural productivity and rural development, particularly in Nsama’s farming communities.
The capacity-building meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the government to ensure that CDF resources are used effectively to achieve inclusive and sustainable development across Zambia.
