Nsama District yesterday gathered at the Nsama Boma Show Grounds for the 2025 Agricultural, Tourism, and Investment Show. Themed “Adapting to Climate Change,” the event drew a large crowd and highlighted the district’s commitment to sustainable development amid global environmental challenges.
The show was graced by key district leaders, including Council Secretary Mr. Raphael Kamanga, Council Chairperson Mr. David Siame, District Commissioner Mr. Steward Katele, and traditional leader Chief Nsama, who joined other dignitaries in showcasing local progress in agriculture, eco-tourism, and rural investment.
In his remarks, Council Secretary Mr. Raphael Kamanga emphasized the importance of integrating climate smart practices into the district’s economic activities. “This year’s theme could not be more relevant. Climate change is affecting our rain patterns, crop yields, and even fish stocks in the lake. We must adapt or risk losing our livelihoods,” he said.
District Commissioner Mr. Steward Katele echoed these words, urging farmers and entrepreneurs to embrace innovation and resilience. “Our future depends on how well we can adjust to these new realities. Government is committed to supporting initiatives that promote sustainability and inclusive development,” he said.
The event featured exhibitions from local farmers, small and medium enterprises, tourism operators, and investors. Attendees were treated to displays of climate-resilient crops, conservation farming techniques, traditional crafts, and eco-tourism products unique to Nsama district.
Chief Nsama commended the district leadership for involving traditional authorities and the wider community in efforts to address the impact of climate change. “Our ancestors lived in harmony with nature. Let us continue that legacy by protecting our forests and water bodies,” he said.
Council Secretary also noted the role of the private sector and development partners in building climate resilience. He called for increased investment in renewable energy, irrigation systems, and sustainable value chains.
The show concluded with awards given to outstanding exhibitors and farmers who demonstrated innovative approaches to adapting to the changing climate. The event was not only a platform for economic dialogue but also a celebration of the district’s cultural heritage and unity.
