10.06.2025 NSAMA DISTRICT’S NEW MINI MORTUARY RECEIVES FIRST BODY.

The newly opened mini mortuary at Nsama Rural Health Centre has officially begun operations after receiving its first corpse this morning. The facility, which was recently commissioned on 6th June 2025, is among the critical Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure and service delivery in Nsama District.
The Nsama Town Council, in collaboration with devolved departments, continues to implement projects aimed at uplifting the well-being of residents through targeted use of CDF and strategic development planning.
Prior to the establishment of this facility, Nsama residents faced significant challenges related to the storage and handling of deceased persons. Families were forced to transport bodies to distant locations due to the absence of a local mortuary, often under emotional and financial conditions.
The mini mortuary is now operational and equipped to preserve up to six bodies at a time. Its commissioning marks an important step in enhancing the dignity and management of end-of-life processes within the district.
The project is part of the broader effort by the government to decentralize services and empower communities through infrastructure development under the New Dawn administration. The facility is expected to serve the entire Nsama catchment area, providing timely and humane handling of the deceased.
